Sarah, it's very interesting to see what Australian romance fiction reads like---and by that I mean locally published books targeted to the Australian market. We don't really get many books that are strict romance genre, where the romance is the main plot, except for the Mills and Boon lines.

I've almost sworn off literary novels. The number of pages plus the more often than not unhappy endings just won't do it for me anymore. I used to read about 5 books per week until I started this blog. Now I'm lucky to read 2 a week, but I've also diversified more because I've received review copies of non-romance books.

Another new-to-me author to try!
My reading habits have definitely changed since I had children. While I've been a romance fan since my teens, I used to read more widely in a variety of genres than I do today. I read far fewer literary novels, for example.
Romances and mysteries tend not to exceed 400 pages. They're quick reads and lend themselves to being picked up and put down again if necessary, although I often finish them in one or two sittings.
I read fewer books than I used to. My average was 5-6 books per week, and now it's more like 2-3. However, I've noticed the number of books I read has increased over the past few months. I'm sure the fact the baby now goes to bed at 7:30 pm plays no small role in that!
