Black Dagger Brotherhood series author J. R. Ward has posted an excerpt of the upcoming BDB book, Lover At Last, on her Facebook page. Qhinn/Blay fans will be happy.
Not to brag or anything (okay, to brag a little, because I can’t help it), I have an ARC of the book and I just passed the section quoted, and let me just say that it leads to some cracktastically wangsty scenes. (Thanks to Jen for brainstorming the term ‘wanksty’ with me.)
Tell me you’ve pre-ordered this book!!! If not, you can do so here: Booktopia, Galaxy, Fishpond, Amazon, Book Depository.

Countdown to Lover Mine
There are daily quotes from the book up right now including this evil tease about an unidentified male hitting on an as-yet-unknown female who wants him but doesn’t want to (I don’t think it’s who you’re expecting, but I haven’t got to that part yet).
She’s also introduced a new character named Sola and if you remember an earlier post where Ward asked about how a Brazilian would refer to her grandmother, this is how that fits in. Also included in Sola’s intro was Bad by Wale ft. Tiara Thomas about a girl who’s into casual sex and is open about treating guys badly emotionally.
I’m even more jealous than usual of readers who live in Cincinnati because she’s holding a signing in a haunted theatre and giving away 5 iPods preloaded with music from the event.
Is it wangsty or wanksty because to me those both very valid words would have different meanings! Just want to make sure I get my usage right!
You are one of the main reasons I can’t kick the BDB addiction–despite how freaking annoying I find the actual books.
I’m a sad, pathetic being. Pity me.
Decadence — Ha! It was exactly who I was expecting.
Marg — Definitely wanksty. (Apparently, wangsty is already taken and means something else.)
azteclady — I had vowed this would be my last BDB, but I think I’ve changed my mind. Again!

(The Bridgertons, epilogues) The series that made me—and the rest of the world—falling in love with Julia Quinn. If you haven’t read this series, start now! If you have, then this is the cherry on the cake.
(Rivers of London, Book 1) Original, witty and fun—this is my new favourite series.
(The Edge, Book 3) Although there are familiar elements, there is something quite distinct about this series. I really enjoyed this difference.
(Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 11) The crack is back. This book will either allow you to exit the BDB world satisfied…or suck you right back in with a vengeance.
(Clockwork Agents, Book 1 and 2) An exciting, fast-paced and very, very sexy steampunk romance series.
(Mercy Thompson, Book 7) Mercy Thompson fans who have been eagerly anticipating this book will love the complicated twists of the plot, and romance readers will absolutely adore Adam.
A lively read, and while I’m not too sure I’d like to have gone through all that Georgette did, waking up next to a hot-hunka-chunka-burning-love Highlander with a kilt (but not in one) might not be so bad. (Except I’d better be able to remember it all the next day!)
You don’t have to be a fashionista to appreciate this book. Grace Coddington is a woman who loves life and what’s she’s made of it, and that comes through very clearly on the pages.
(Mercy Thompson, Book 2) The pacing and plotting are not as balanced as in the first book. Mostly we’re just along for the ride—but it’s still a fabulous trip.
(The Caster Chronicles, Book 1) A book to hand someone with the words, ‘Please enjoy’—something you can have fun with without having to think too much.
