Watch out for Library Lovers Week events, which are usually during the week of Valentine’s Day. These events are generally very romance-friendly, and you might be able to say hi to some of your favourite romance authors. I’ll post these as I hear of them (although I’ll focus on reader events, rather than writing workshops — if you’re an aspiring author, the best place to get that news is through the Romance Writers of Australia blog or newsletter).
If you live in Sydney, I’ll be at Waverley Library on Monday, February 13, presenting a talk called So hot right now! What’s trending in romance fiction:
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a reader in possession of a romance book must be in want of a happy ending. But when your favourite literary genre is a billion-dollar industry, with new titles coming out as fast as you can read, how do you keep up with what’s hot, what’s new, and what your favourite author is writing next? Join romance book blogger Kat Mayo and discover where other romance readers hang out, share recommendations, and discover new authors. (Plus tips on how to help your local library grow their romance collection!) Don’t miss this fun readers advisory event exploring the amazing world of Romancelandia — where readers are voracious, love is joyful, and books are never in short supply.
You can register here (free).
If you live in Melbourne, you might be interested in A little afternoon tea with Anne Gracie, which is hosted by Yarra Libraries and moderated by Escape Publishing editor Kate Cuthbert.
I’ve decided to join the #LitsyAtoZ reading challenge, and I’m always up for the Shallowreader Bingo. (Which reminds me, are you on Litsy? If so, let us know your Litsy handle! Here’s ours.) What reading challenges are you doing this year?
