Blog of silence, Melbourne book blogger meet-up and talking romance

Thursday Tidbits -- news, links and interesting things

Mea culpa

I apologise for the silence on the blog for the past few weeks. Life away from blogging got very busy very suddenly, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to finish off our Aussie Author posts. However, I will be making up for it by posting the remaining author quickies over the coming months. (It will be impossible for me to sustain the pace we kept in April!)

So from next week, new posts should be going up again, and we’ll be announcing the giveaway winners from April.

Melbourne book blogger meet-up

Marg over at The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader is organising the first ever Melbourne book blogger meet-up. Bloggers, tweeters, authors and any other bookish people are welcome to come along.

Thursday, May 26 from 6.30pm
The Sherlock Holmes Inn (Basement, 415 Collins St)

Click here for more information and to RSVP.

Talking about romance on #spbkchat

Tonight’s South Pacific Book Chat on Twitter will focus on romance fiction. To join, all you have to do is follow the Twitter hashtag #spbkchat and join in the conversation. The chat starts at 8pm AEST and goes for about two hour. Just hop on whenever you can. (Click here for times in other locations.)

Favourite books written by women

Angela Meyer over at Crikey’s book blog LiteraryMinded wants to know who your favourite female authors are. The blog focuses on literary fiction, but I reckon you can’t have a discussion about female authors without having a good look at genre fiction—and especially romance—and their place in our literary culture.
