When Rudi, Gabby and I heard that the 2016 Romantic Times Convention would be in Las Vegas, we knew we couldn’t pass up the chance to go. The RT convention is probably the largest romance-focused convention in the world, and this year was my first time to attend.
We had intended to do a recap of the convention, but as tends to happen when we’re together, the conversation takes all sorts of unexpected turns. (There are going to be bursts of hilarity in the audio, so you might have to adjust the volume in certain places.)
We had a great time recording this episode, and we’re thinking of doing a similar type of show in the future. So if you have any topics you’d like to hear us chat about on the podcast, let me know!

This podcast made me very, very happy, and so envious!!!
Mind you, I don’t know that I would ever attend RT for the convention itself (I’m more the conference type–RWA nationals for the win!), but you three were on this continent at the same time, and I would have loved to meet you.
AZ — It went by so quickly! I just wish I could have had more time to chat instead of running around trying to tick things off my bucket list. One day I hope we’ll get to finally meet in person. :D
I don’t think the running around changes much, no matter what the event–RWA Nationals goes by like running water, and by the last night, it’s a kaleidoscope of faces, voices, and books.
But here’s hoping, one day!
Do you tend to go to the RWA conference? I’m thinking of aiming for that next. (By ‘next’ I mean sometime in the next 10 years!)
I was lucky enough to attend two in a row (2009 in DC and 2010 in Orlando); I had also spend a few hours at an RT in Orlando in 2009, and the contrast was marked. There was the same book love, and readers/bloggers were made to feel very welcome (though I recall that this was not the case just a handful of years before), but RWA was clearly a professional gathering. There was silliness and fun, but mostly after hours.
I keep hoping that someday I’ll be able to attend RWA Nationals again, but, like you, I’m looking at “sometime in the next decade, dozen years.”
