BT016. Desperation and Starbucks

BT016. Desperation and Starbucks

Guest: Tessa Dare | Host: Kat Mayo | Audio producer: Rudi Bremer | Recorded: 14/4/2016 RT Convention

The best thing about the Romantic Times convention was the chance to meet some of my favourite authors. Historical romance author Tessa Dare was on my Do Not Leave Vegas Without Meeting Her list. I’m such a fan girl, I can’t even remember how I managed to invite her up to my room to record this interview, but I did and she did. So yes, I can now tell people that Tessa Dare and I hung out in Vegas!

We start off by talking about Tessa’s writing process and some of her books, many of which are on my keeper shelf. (Find out which of her books is ‘like Cluedo but with sexy times’!) We also talk about unusual occupations for women in the Regency period, and I manage to drop a Hamilton reference.

Thanks to @KristieJ, Azteclady and @Vaveros for their lovely feedback for episode 15.

I’ll be in Adelaide this weekend for the Romance Writers of Australia conference. I’m looking for authors to interview for a vox pop, so if you’re up for a quick round of questions and answers, let me know!

  • Hamilton — I love this musical. When I went to New York after the RT Convention, I spent hours lining up for a potential ticket. Sadly, I didn’t get one. But the soundtrack is on repeat play on my phone.

Wow, thank you for the shout out! Now I’m going to feel a bit self-conscious when commenting… nah, not really.

“Sex in the library is always sexy” — oh yeah (anyone else flashed back to the scene in Flowers from the Storm?

    :evil cackle:

Perhaps a re-read is in order?

Mind you, this is one of those books that I have been unable to re-read; Christian’s affliction, his experiences in the asylum, his family’s dynamics…the angst has stayed with me for close to ten years.

Maybe on audio. Nicholas Boulton’s voice is *le sigh*. Your reaction to the book is why I get offended when people dismiss romance books. The best ones are so deeply affecting.

  4. azteclady says:

Have you ever read Cry No More, by Linda Howard? As Bona (Spanish blogger) said in a comment to my review, that’s the ugly cry book Men>par excellence. It took me a dozen years to muster the ovaries to re-read it.

What do you think?
